Doing what's right, incessantly,
following her moral code.
She pulls the weight steadily,
seriously, adamantly.
Following the promises of a
better life, she leans into
the yoke, and steps carefully
through the hoops.

APPLE-By Elizabeth
How sweet,
how sour,
how nice.
It comes out
small and
heavy,
it smells like
a lemon peel,
it is born
like little babies.
It takes time to build up.
They build up by time
and
the weather.
They come
out shiny like brand new sneakers,
if it is nice and shiny out.
How nice are apples
to eat, and see.
